Situated at the edge of the countryside town of Milnthorpe, Hartland House enjoys views across to Dallam Park with its beautiful herd of fallow deer.
A short drive from the Lake District and still within easy reach of the M6, Hartland House is in an ideal location for residents’ and visiting family and friends.

We aim to provide residents’ with the comfort, familiarity and freedom of being at home, without the stress or responsibility of keeping house.
Our in house laundry service, catering, housekeeping and maintenance teams mean that all your daily needs are taken care of so you can relax and enjoy more of the good stuff - like our varied activity programme or a regular hair appointment with our on site hairdresser.

Hartland House features state-of-the-art facilities designed to enhance our residents' quality of life and enable them to be independent and live the life they want, in a safe and supportive environment.
From intelligent fall prevention systems, to comfortable rooms, great food and engaging and varied activities, we provide everything our residents need to thrive throughout their later years.

Hartland House has been providing high quality care since 1987. Previously a doctors home, the building was renovated and extended, then opened to residents in 1987 and joined with Abbeyfield to become Abbeyfield (Lakeland Extra Care) Society Ltd in the same year.
The conservatory and Bechshaw Wing extension was built in 2010 and has been a fantastic addition to the home.
In 2024, Hartland House had a complete internal renovation, giving the home a fresh and modern feel while keeping resident comfort and accessibility as priority.

We are proud to have been linked with Abbeyfield since 1987, when Hartland House became a part of the Abbeyfield family.
As an Abbeyfield Society member, we are fortunate to benefit from access to a wider care community - sharing industry knowledge and resources while supporting each other to provide the best care possible to our residents.

Whilst being an Abbeyfield Society member, Hartland House is very fortunate to retain its independence as a standalone society with charitable status.
This enables us to keep our residential fees as low as we can, with any surplus being put back into the home to improve the lives of the residents who live here.
We are run by a board of fantastic trustees who volunteer their time on a regular basis to make sure that Hartland House is the best care facility that it can be.
